What do you think of when you think of Panama City? Is it sprawling high rises and modern apartment buildings, or is it old, historic buildings and churches? Well today, we’re introducing San Francisco, the neighborhood that’s the best of both worlds.

In terms of convenience, San Francisco – on the east side of the city –  is super accessible: it’s not far from Tocumen International Airport, and several major thoroughfares cut through here. It’s crowning gem has got to be Parque Omar, an oasis in the heart of the bustling city. Think Panama’s Central Park, with jogging trails, children’s playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, and baseball fields. There’s also a big public library and a swimming pool here open 6am to 9pm daily. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a performance at one of the outdoor theatre areas – the biggest one to look out for is Musicalion—five days of fantastic concerts in January.

Further into the San Francisco neighborhood, you’ll find everything from cafes and supermarkets to banks and car dealerships. You’ll discover modern residential buildings and spas nestled beside old Mansiones – grand homes for the wealthy classes of the past – restaurants and schools. If you’re looking for a bite to eat here, be sure to call into Jimmy’s, the city’s most popular Greek café.

And finally, ten minutes walk away you’ve got the massive Atlapa Convention Center, which is host to a large range of exhibitions and events – everything from handicraft expos to orchestra performances, book fairs, and more – definitely worth a visit.

As if that wasn’t enough to lure you to this great part of town, we should also mention that we have some beautiful, affordable San Francisco apartment rentals that you should definitely consider, from just $74 per night, with fitness facilities, outdoor pool, sun deck and free WiFi. What’s not to love about that?!
