The Rideau Falls are two 9m high falls in Ottawa. They are located next to many government buildings, including the residence of Canada’s Prime Minister. The falls were supposedly named by Samuel de Champlain, for their resemblance to a curtain or “rideau” in French.

Spanning 202 km in length, The Rideau Canal is one of the longest in Canada. It flows from Ottawa to Lake Ontario and the Saint Lawrence River at Kingston, Ontario. there are 24 locks in total through the whole entire canal, with 8 of them being situated in Ottawa.

6. Visit the ByWard Market

The ByWard market is one of the most notable attractions in Ottawa. It’s filled with local farmer vendors and staple Canadian foods for you to enjoy. The market also includes various restaurants, colorful street art and stores full of clothes and crafts made by local artisans. Even President Obama visited the ByWard market and had his first Beaver Tails pastry!
