With views of the Atlantic Ocean on one side, and luxury hotels and condos on the other, no trip to South Beach is complete without a trip to the glamourous Miami Beach boardwalk. Starting at Indian Beach Park and continuing through to South Pointe Park, this 40 block stretch of coast has plenty to do, see and experience to keep you entertained on the long walk.

What to do

You can simply walk or stroll hand-in-hand with your love and take in the atmosphere of this beach-side beauty. If you like something a little more energetic, then consider renting a bike from one of the plentiful rental companies and cycle along the length of the boardwalk. Just be careful – you will have to do a significant amount of pedestrian dodging (they are the ones doing the walking and strolling mentioned earlier!).  Once you get south of 23rd Street it’s a pedestrian only zone, so you will have to leave the bike behind.

Wander a mere one block off the boardwalk and you will be at the Lincoln Road pedestrian mall, the famous shopping and dining precinct of Miami Beach. Here you will find loads of cafes and dining options as well as enough stores to shop to you drop. It’s not technically on the Boardwalk, but it’s so close it may as well be!

What to See

Make your friends at home seethe with jealousy and you send them pictures of the glistening Miami coastline. The best views (and the best photos) are from 52nd Street, where the golden sands of Miami Beach meet the Atlantic.

Where to Eat

If you’d like to people-watch on the boardwalk, or just sit and take in the amazing atmosphere, there are many dining options along the way. Here are just a few.

Eden Roc Hotel at Collins Avenue serves cocktails, lunch and dinner in their Cabana Club overlooking the Boardwalk.

Nicki Beach Club on Ocean Drive is a restaurant/bar that is geared towards a party atmosphere. It has an outdoor beach club and an award winning restaurant (for those who don’t want to party away the night, or who like to fuel up first!).

Remember the hotels and condos mentioned earlier? The best part about having them line the walk is that many offer dining options. Try WET at the W Hotel South Beach, Pool & Beach Bar at the Setai Hotel and BLT Steak at the Betsy Hotel, but really, where you decide to go depends on when you’ve had enough walking!
