Vancouver is one of biggest cities in Canada, with incredible beaches, mountains, food, and shopping, which makes it a perfect destination for tourists from all over the world. But with over 2.5 million people living in the Greater Vancouver metropolitan area, it can be a little difficult to really see the city as you stroll around it’s streets, so we recommend you get out of downtown and take in the magnificence of the city from these great spots:

The Lighthouse Park is one of Vancouver’s loveliest green spaces and from its heights you can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding water, Stanley Park, and Lions Gate Bridge. But to check this one off your list, you’ll have to go on a 2 hour hike through the woods so it’s best tackled on a fine day. Another solution for water views is the Dockside – here you can enjoy a nice dinner with local seafood while admiring False Creek or Science World.

The Vancouver Rowing Club is a 128-year old club where you can slip into something sophisticated and attend a regatta, but this is also a great place to visit even if there’s nothing special happening, because from this vantage point on the water you can see the city skyline, Coal Harbour and the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Probably the most impressive views of Vancouver are up on Grouse Mountain. You can get here by walking 2.9 kilometers or, if your legs aren’t up to it, take the Skyride. The ride up will be smooth and simple, with panoramic views of the city. And the good news is that it doesn’t end when you get up there – you can enjoy everything from the summit while having a glass of red wine with your special someone. Pretty much the perfect ending for a romantic escape in one of Canada’s most impressive cities.

Really hoping for a great sunset shot? We suggest you end your day on the Cambie Street Bridge – from here you can snap what’s probably the most beautiful sunset view in Vancouver, or stick around to see the softly-glowing skyline against the night sky.
