The life of a frequent business traveller is not an easy one – especially if you’re accustomed to a little luxury but your company budget doesn’t stretch that far. There are a few workarounds, however, that can upgrade your next business trip. Follow our advice and you’ll be on your way to great service and a smoother, more productive all-round experience.

Never stay in a hotel: Bad food at the bar? Check. Expensive fee for in-room internet? Check. Disturbances from other guests and housekeeping? Check. We may be a little biased, but why would anyone want to stay in a hotel room on a business trip when they could book a furnished apartment and have twice the space for the same price?! With our luxury apartments, you’re guaranteed a kitchen to cook in (or, if you don’t feel like it, a hook-up with a local food delivery service), reliable WiFi, beautiful bathroom products, washer-drier, and the quiet and security of your own place in a secure building where no one will disturb you – not to mention an amazing concierge service that can help with everything from restaurant recommendations to a dogsitter. It’s a no-brainer!

Get Organized: If you’ve got multiple meetings, travel itineraries and contacts to keep track of, you need to start downloading apps that will streamline your trip. GateGuru is a good one if you’re about to trek through a few airports – it’ll update you on gate changes, delays and airport amenities. If you’re forced to undergo the torture of putting together a detailed expense report after your trip, Expensify can help, while CardMunch is a handy one for storing contacts you make along the way. And if you need to get online (and you’re not in one of our awesome apartments) you can use WiFi finder to track down public WiFi spots near your location. Plan your transport in advance: Sure, you’ve booked your flight, but how are you getting to and from the airport? And from meeting to meeting? There are some great options out there that will save you hailing a cab on the sidewalk at 6 in the morning. For airport dropoff, ask your concierge about reserving a shuttle service. And for getting around town, check out Uber – an app that allows you to call a driver at any time and pay through your cellphone.
