Places To Shop In Mexico City

If you’re set to conquer the shops in Mexico city, beware! There are way more shopping centers, markets and malls in Mexico City than you can visit in one vacation, but we’ve picked out a few of our favourites so that you (can your credit card) can at least try to make a dent…!

The most important commercial center is Centro Comercial Santa Fe, which is one of the biggest places to go shopping in Latin America. You’ll find over 280 stores here, from international brands to local jewelry manufacturers so if you were planning on doing all your shopping at once, this is definitely the place to go. You’ll find everything you need here, including souvenirs, and you can also relax at one of the high-end restaurants or at the 10-screen movie theatre.

On the other hand, if you’re into flea markets then you should head over to Calle de Ernesto Pugibet. Here you’ll find Mercado de San Juan, with everything from fresh meat and fruits to hand-made marionettes, you’ll find them all here. Not far from the historic centre of the city, it’s a really cool experience to walk through the stalls and smell exotic fruits, fresh fish and gourmet sandwiches. It’s also the perfect place to buy unique souvenirs for friends and family back home.

But if you want to go home with something that really represents Mexico City, then you need to head to Bazar del Sabado. It’s located in San Angel and it’s full of shops that sell local art and handmade artefacts. The only downside is that sometimes it gets really crowded so make sure you’ve got plenty of water (and patience!)

If you’re not into big crowds then there is  an alternative – head over to Ciudadela Curio Market. It’s another street market where you can buy local art, but it’s not as popular with the crowds so you can browse in peace.
