Canada Day celebrations have to make a shift from the usual large gatherings this year. For example, the magical lights will not illuminate the cities in 2020. Therefore, the typical events are going online. For safety reasons, Canadian provinces made the executive decision to cancel the in person shows. On the bright side you can witness many events from across Canada online. To provide some solutions, here’s a guide on things to do on Canada Day in major cities this year.

Central Provinces

Toronto

1. The C.N Tower live firework show begins at 10 pm on the City of Toronto Arts & Culture Youtube channel
2. Visit the drive in concert and firework show in Markham. It is a ticketed event, therefore you must buy your tickets.
3. In all of Ontario fireworks  are permitted on private property. Check the rules here. 
4. Do the virtual Halton Hills Scavenger Hunt
5. Both the Toronto Zoo and Lion African Safari are hosting a Canada Day drive-in.

Montreal

1. Watch the cultural diversity show at 1pm on Fête du Canada RDP Facebook & Youtube channels (in French)
2. A 1 hr live concert will be streamed from the Olympic Stadium beginning at 7 pm.
3. Watch the virtual day parade
4. In Montreal fireworks are permitted on private property. Check the bylaws here. 

Quebec City
