It really doesn’t matter whether you’re a casual walker or a seasoned hiker – Quebec is literally covered with trails for all ages and skill levels. With some truly breathtaking scenery which is only accessible by foot, you’ll be so glad you chose to get out of the city and explore. Stroll alongside a peaceful river, wander through a magnificent pine forest and soak up the enchantment of Quebec’s natural wonders at your own pace. So why not pack up your gear, start with a few nights in one of our Quebec City apartments, then go meet nature head on!

Parc national de la Gaspésie

With its 25 peaks over 1,000 metres, you’ll feel like you’re in a sea of mountains, far far from the city, when hiking at Parc national de la Gaspésie. Enjoy the diverse flora and stunning scenery and prepare your camera, there’s always a chance of meeting a caribou, moose or a white-tailed deer.

International Appalachian Trail (IAT)

Whether you go for a day, a week or decide to hike the complete trail (35 to 40 days), you’ll discover a variety of journeys and levels of difficulty at International Appalachian Trail. You can climb several peaks, the most notable being Mont Jacques-Cartier, Mont Albert and Mont Logan. Parts of this scenic route belong to the Gaspé Peninsula that offers you a wonderful view on the St. Lawrence River. You have access to 24 shelters along the trail shrewdly located in the heart of the mountains or 33 campground sites dotting the entire path.

Sentiers de l’Estrie

You could tackle this one from a base of our Montreal, or drive down from Quebec city, but If you’re looking to really push yourself, Les Sentiers de l’Estrie should be your choice. Aimless wandering isn’t advised here, a map is necessary to navigate through certain areas, but you’ll be rewarded with a lovely forest hiking trail which passes through the valleys and mountains of the Eastern Townships and many claim it is is much more adventurous that any other hike site in the province.

National Trail

Got a few weeks to kill? Passing through the wild lands of nine regions, this pan Canadian trail is perfect for hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. The Quebec portion extends from the Outaouais in the West to the Bas-Saint-Laurent in the East. A great, long, hike for soul searching and pushing the limits of your stamina!

Traversée de Charlevoix

With 100km of marked trails crossing stunning mountains, this beautiful walking path is a designated international biosphere reserve. As you cross various ecosystems, you’ll be surrounded by mountains reaching 850 metres. And if that doesn’t take your breath away, we don’t know what will!
